Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway will play Selina Kyle – a.k.a. Catwoman – in Christopher Nolan’s next Batman franchise installment The Dark Knight Rises, reports USA TODAY’s Scott Bowles.

The 28-year-old actress “will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” director Christopher Nolan said in a release.

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Anne Hathaway will be appearing on the show.

The Love and Other Drugs star previously revealed that she would love to guest star on the show – named ‘Best Comedy Series’ at the Golden Globes last night – as Kurt’s (Chris Colfer) aunt.

Speaking to E!‘s Kristin Dos Santos, Murphy added: “The thing that’s great about Anne Hathaway is that she created her own character and we just ran into her and we said ‘Really?’ So we’re going to do that. We love her.”

Amber Riley – Mercedes in the hit show – admitted that some of the cast had only found out the news “about ten minutes ago”.

Murphy did not confirm any more information on the role or when Hathaway will appear.

The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards took place in Beverly Hills, California at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday January 16th.

Anne Hathaway was a nominee for Best Actress Comedy/Musical for her role in Love and Other Drugs. But she lost to Annette Bening for The Kids Are All Right.

Anne chose a brilliant amber beige sleek dress from Giorgio Armani Prive with dramatic shoulders and a low open back.

Focus Features has slotted Anne Hathaway-Jim Sturgess starrer “One Day” for limited release on July 8.

Summer berth marks a vote of confidence for the romantic comedy, since Fourth of July tentpoles, which bow the week before, will hold through the holiday. This year, July 4 falls on a Monday.

“One Day,” directed by Lone Scherfig (“An Education”), follows two friends, played by Hathaway and Sturgess, who meet during their graduation in 1988 and reunite only on the anniversary of that day for the next 20 years. David Nicholls, who wrote the novel on which the project is based, also penned the script.
